Across Age DX is coming to Android + FDG Interview

Posted by Dan Mousavi On August - 31 - 2011

The german publisher FDG is getting ready to publish their debut title on Android – Across Age DX. Since I worked there a few years ago, I visited them to check out their first game for Android. Across Age is a japanese Action-RPG, that was developed in co-operation with the japanese developer Exe-Create. While the screenshots may remind you on other (mostly korean) grind rpg’s, this game plays actually more like Zelda and revolves around puzzle solving and the use of new skills.

Free games at GetJar

Posted by Dan Mousavi On August - 25 - 2011

GetJar is making a big push for Android at the moment with their free market. They are giving away 50$ in apps and games to everyone.
There are some great games that you can get there for free, that we recommended previously on our paid games lists, e.g. Nano Panda, Age of Zombies, Back Breaker, Zenonia 2 and many more.
To get these games you have to download the GetJar Appstore, which only provides free games at the moment. Just visit m.getjar.com, get the appstore, follow the instructions and download the games over it.

HTC Evo3D review

Posted by Dan Mousavi On August - 23 - 2011

Last week the Evo3D launched officially in Germany, a lot has happened since I checked out the first 3D phone from LG at MWC earlier this year and with Sense 3.0 and the new mobile display resolution the HTC Evo3D looks like a evolution of the Optimus 3D on paper. Let’s find out, if the last 6 months were kind to mobile 3D gaming and if such a device is worth to have now.

Let’s take a look at the Hardware first.
I really like the HTC phones, they always feel sturdy and robust. The phone has a decent weight to it and could be too heavy for some, but I prefer phones with a little weight to it over cheap plastic.
The backside comes off easily when you need it to and won’t pop off by itself. There is a real camera button on the device, that is at the top of it’s class. It just feels right to have a dedicated metal camera button on the lower right of the phone.
Sadly that’s the only good thing when it comes to buttons. The system buttons are all touchscreen buttons, that are often pressed by unintended clicks if you just hold the phone in landscape mode. My biggest gripe with the phone is that it doesn’t have a trackpad or a trackball. I’m so used to this navigation that every phone without a trackball + touchscreen just feels crippled and I will probably cry crocodile tears if the Nexus Prime is announced with only software buttons.

Galaxy on Fire 2 THD

Posted by Hon-Bon Lee On August - 4 - 2011

The old Java-Version of Galaxy on Fire 2 on my old Sony Cybershot K810i already had good graphics and a huge game world. It was a small sensation in the mobile gaming world.
Fishlabs always focused on the creation of good games with lavish graphics.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is comparable to old PC Hits like “Privateer”, “Freelancer” oder “Elite”, if you played these classic space simulations and liked them, you will probably also like Galaxy on Fire 2 THD.
You can download Galaxy on Fire 2 THD for free in the Android-Market, after the installation it will download a few hundred MB additional data (WiFi recommended).
The first solar system is playable for free. You can only leave the hangar of the Space station in the second solar system after you bought the full version. You buy the game through in-app purchase, it brings you to the android market and after the sale you are back in the hangar, where you can continue to play seamlessly.

The 25 Best Paid Games for August 2011

Posted by Dan Mousavi On August - 2 - 2011

Welcome to our monthly Toplist for August 2011. This month android introduced multiple apk support on Android, so if a game doesn’t look like the corresponding screenshot, it’s probably because of that.
You may have realized that we had a little less articles in the last month. That’s entirely my fault, because I am busy at the moment with developing my first Android app. It should be ready sometimes this month, so stay tuned. Because of that I couldn’t translate as many reviews as usual, but there are nearly a half dozen reviews written, who are just waiting to be lectured. As always we are still looking for more help, if you think you could translate from german into english in acceptable quality, please contact us. If you are a professional lecturer, who doesn’t work for free, you can also contact me. I am looking for a paid translator and lecturer, who would need to lecture and translate around 20 pages every month to to lecture the german version and translate it into english. He/She also needs to be a hardcore gamer and should like sci-fi. Now let’s get to the best games of this month:

Arma II: Firing Range THD
Bohemia interactive developed a firing range in cooperation with NVIDIA

BackStab HD
Gamelofts pirate adventure is now available for all android devices
