New Games roundup KW11 2012

This week a few interesting games arrived on Android. If you are looking for new games, check out these releases:

Another World
One of my favorite games from the early 90’s and the best commercial game ever produced by a single person. Another world was one of the first action adventures and instantly made it’s Designer Eric Chahi an industry legend. It was also one of the first polygon based games, which gave it unprecended quality in animations and made it one of the first games with full motion videos. The technique he invented to display polygons in 2D is used to this day by programs like Flash. Even 20 years after the original release, this title is still wonderful to play.

Cut the Rope Experiments
Om Nom is back with new levels, gadgets and a mad german scientist. This second part initially has 5 level packs with 125 levels in total

This one was kind of a surprise, because this game is like a throwback through time. This space sim was in development for three years, they worked on a lot of features and that shows… but not only in a good way. In the initial release the interface is so overfilled, I can’t remember any game in the last 15 years that dared to clutter the UI with dozens and dozens of buttons. You can touch select miniature boxes on the screen and you have dozens of submenues that you have to navigate through. The first two times I tried the game, I was hopelessly lost and I still haven’t managed to get a savegame (lol, another 90’s throwback, at the second try I got through a gate , which then broke and left me stranded somewhere in space, I accidentaly clicked away a message, which doesn’t show up in the log and now I don’t know what to do). On the other hand this game looks beautiful and seems pretty deep, when you take the time to learn the menues, controls etc. and don’t run into any game breaking bugs. It reminds me of the first time I played Wing Commander 3, that was also a jumbled mess that you had to figure out for yourself, but after my initial hate for the interface it became one of my favorite games of all time. . The story here is pretty much stolen from the Enderverse, from the destruction of a species that you seemingly caused to an all-knowing A.I. that you meet after years of hyperstasis it has too many similarities to go unnoticed. But the Enderverse story is one of the best and hasn’t been copied much yet, so this is actually a good thing. Anyway, if you are in the market for a new space sim, give Dangerous a chance, it’s just an interface update away from being a great game and the asset quality in some areas is superb, from a beautiful soundtrack to the displayed artwork the quality will surprise you. At least try the lite version

Fifa 12
a nice football game, even though Real Football 2012 is better. However Real Footbal 2012 is a frigging spam fest, which sends you daily pop-up messages even if you never play it, so it disqualifies itself….so download Fifa 12, it’s the best usable soccer game available.

There’s not much else to say, it’s pretty much like all games in the series and it has local wifi multiplayer

Six Guns
In true Gameloft fashion they delivered a clone of the now popular western genre. This game is like Red Dead Redemptions retarted little brother and would have too many problems as a retail game, but since it is freemium, it’s actually worth to check out. With enough patience you could complete everything without spending real money for new guns.

Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition
Finally this game is also available in the western region, it’s the classic rolling ball game with 125 levels and 4 mini games
