Galaxy on Fire 2 THD

Posted by Hon-Bon Lee On August - 4 - 2011

The old Java-Version of Galaxy on Fire 2 on my old Sony Cybershot K810i already had good graphics and a huge game world. It was a small sensation in the mobile gaming world.
Fishlabs always focused on the creation of good games with lavish graphics.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is comparable to old PC Hits like “Privateer”, “Freelancer” oder “Elite”, if you played these classic space simulations and liked them, you will probably also like Galaxy on Fire 2 THD.
You can download Galaxy on Fire 2 THD for free in the Android-Market, after the installation it will download a few hundred MB additional data (WiFi recommended).
The first solar system is playable for free. You can only leave the hangar of the Space station in the second solar system after you bought the full version. You buy the game through in-app purchase, it brings you to the android market and after the sale you are back in the hangar, where you can continue to play seamlessly.

The 25 Best Paid Games for August 2011

Posted by Dan Mousavi On August - 2 - 2011

Welcome to our monthly Toplist for August 2011. This month android introduced multiple apk support on Android, so if a game doesn’t look like the corresponding screenshot, it’s probably because of that.
You may have realized that we had a little less articles in the last month. That’s entirely my fault, because I am busy at the moment with developing my first Android app. It should be ready sometimes this month, so stay tuned. Because of that I couldn’t translate as many reviews as usual, but there are nearly a half dozen reviews written, who are just waiting to be lectured. As always we are still looking for more help, if you think you could translate from german into english in acceptable quality, please contact us. If you are a professional lecturer, who doesn’t work for free, you can also contact me. I am looking for a paid translator and lecturer, who would need to lecture and translate around 20 pages every month to to lecture the german version and translate it into english. He/She also needs to be a hardcore gamer and should like sci-fi. Now let’s get to the best games of this month:

Arma II: Firing Range THD
Bohemia interactive developed a firing range in cooperation with NVIDIA

BackStab HD
Gamelofts pirate adventure is now available for all android devices

Apparatus, that sounds more like a normal app instead of a game. But it is a game that will appeal to the modders among you, so basically nearly to all men. In Apparatus you build machines and your goal is to get chain reactions. It’s basically the same as The Incredible Machine on Windows 3.1, this kind of game fascinated me for many hours. Let’s see if Apparatus is a worthy successor.

For a short¬†time¬†now the¬†game Beer¬†Pong¬†HD¬†from the development team¬†Codeglue is available for free at the Android¬†Market and¬†I¬†thought I should¬†take a¬†closer look, because I like beer¬†and I like¬†Ping-Pong.¬†Having both in a game should be funny or¬†what do you think?¬†The test¬†will¬†show¬†whether the game¬†is worth to sacrifice¬†about 12¬†MB¬†‚Äč‚Äčof your memory¬†to¬†install it on your phone.¬†See for yourself.

The 25 Best Free Games for July 2011

Posted by Dan Mousavi On July - 4 - 2011

Here we are again with our new free game toplist for July. As with every month in the last year, Android gaming just got a little better with major releases for the casual and the hardcore gamer alike. Besides the listed games here, there are two more titles I want to recommend you. For the hardcore gamer: Galaxy on Fire 2, while the game isn’t free ( and will of course be in the paid games list) the game let’s you play through the entire first galaxy for free, which will give you at least an hour of gameplay, a lot more if you do sidequests. The graphics alone make this a must have title for many, but the game itself is really good, one of the best spaceflight games in recent years on all plattforms and the Android THD Version is the most advanced rendition of the title with 4 times more details on the ships and more effects in general compared to the iPhone version. The other title is Cut the Rope (beware, this is the Nexus One version, select your device before you download), which is only available for free on GetJar. There is a reason that it is the most popular iPhone game besides Angry Birds, this little time waster has excellent gameplay and a great level layout and was one of my most wanted titles, so I’m very happy that we are finally able to feed Omnom. We usually only focus on the Android market, but I’m not sure if the free version will be launched there at all and since it won’t cost you anything, not even a registration to get it from GetJar, it is just too good to not recommend it to you now. The ad integration is also very non obtrusive, this is a good example on how you port an iPhone game over and make it free. As always, if we missed any good game that was released in the last month, please let us know about them in the comments section.
