Sony announces Playstation certified tablets

Posted by Dan Mousavi On April - 26 - 2011

Today Sony officially unveiled their two new tablet designs in Japan, codenamed the S1 and S2. These will be the first two Android tablets that will get the official Sony Playstation titles just like the Xperia Play. The S1 is shaped like a backfolded magazine, the S2 looks like a pure Touchscreen Nintendo DS with two highres screens that can be folded together. The device was shown with on screen controls, which looked ok the S2 (nearly all controls where on the lower screen), but horrible on the S1 (the controls are over the screen), hopefully we will be able to connect our PS3 Dualshock pads or the Xperia Play with the device.

You can see the PS1 controls with Crash Bandicoot for the S2 in the following video (1:35):

It’ll be interesting to see where Sony is going with their Android strategy, but it seems to gain attention very fast. We said from the beginning, that a deeper investment in Android from Sony is a win-win situation for both parties and it seems that Sony is on the right track by not building just another standard android tablet.

Guerilla Bob

Posted by Dan Mousavi On April - 18 - 2011

Well, what do we have here? A good co-op run and gun game on Android? It sounds a little optimistic, but Guerilla Bob has lots of little touches, that make it one of the best games that you can play together with a friend locally, a feat most modern games have dropped in favor of online multiplayer. Even in single player, Guerilla Bob is a great shooter that even works on devices with bad multitouch like the Nexus One, thanks to a auto-aim system. But let’s start at the beginning, who is Guerilla Bob?

Dungeon Defenders now available for free

Posted by Dan Mousavi On April - 1 - 2011

Google launched in-app purchases this week and Trendy Entertainment decided it would be best to give away the first game for free now, with additional in-app purchses down the line, like the announced PVP Arena or second wave, which will come out first on the Xperia Play.

Dungeon Defenders was the first Unreal 3 game on the Android Plattform and is still one of the best looking (and hardware wise most demanding) games available for phones without a Tegra processor. So just go ahead and download it, but take a look at the compatibility list first, because it won’t run properly on older phones like the Nexus One and playing it like this will take away all the fun (that’s why we don’t have a full review yet).

Xperia Play Hands-on

Posted by Dan Mousavi On February - 14 - 2011

Yesterday Sony unveiled their new smartphone for gamers, while the phone itself is nothing new, thanks to countless leaks, having the device in the hand and seeing official games for it is something that surprised a lot of people, because the games all ran super smooth and the fun of playing mobile games increased tremendously, just because you have real buttons.

The device will be available in Europe from nearly every carrier in March and will launch in America this Spring through Verizon. So let’s start with the hands – on, so you can decide for yourself, if this could be your next smartphone.

As a reference game, we will start with the PS 1 Emulation:
